Welcome to our expat interview series!

In these articles, we interview both long-term and new expats in Argentina.

We ask them about what brought them here, what they like, and their recommendations.

What’s your name, country of origin, and how long have you been in Buenos Aires?

Jessica Parks, USA, and I’ve been in Buenos Aires for 1 year 🙂

What brought you to Buenos Aires, and how was the initial adjustment process?

I came to Buenos Aires because a friend was taking care of my dog after my knee surgery.

It wasn’t planned but I ended up loving it here. I’ve lived all over the world and found Buenos Aires to be the easiest adjustment.

What’s been the most challenging aspect of living in Buenos Aires?

The most challenging part of Buenos Aires is probably just the confusion behind simple things sometimes.

Like getting money, visas, etc.

Besides that, I’m a morning person, so the late-night dinners were a harsh adjustment.

And what has been the most rewarding aspect of living in Buenos Aires?

The most rewarding part was that I met my fiancée here!

What’s your favorite local restaurant, bar, or cafe, and why?

My favorite cafe is probably Cafe.te.

But my true favorite all around is Frose, a smoothie and alcohol slushie place in Palermo Soho.

What hidden gem in Buenos Aires deserves more recognition?

The Libreria in downtown! It’s amazing 🥹

What advice would you give to new expats in Buenos Aires?

Bring blue dollars, rent for 3-6 months instead of Airbnb using Zonaprop or Argenprop, always have a backup for data if you work online, and learn how to say you like your steaks medium rare.

That’s it for this expat interview!
