Welcome to our expat interview series!

In these articles, we interview both long-term and new expats in Argentina.

We ask them about what brought them here, what they like, and their recommendations.

What’s your name, country of origin, and how long have you been in Buenos Aires?

Linda Matthijs, from the Netherlands, and I have been living in Argentina for 7 years.

What brought you to Buenos Aires, and how was the initial adjustment process?

I came to Argentina because I wanted a change and got myself a job here. The adjustment went alright although there were so many things I had to get used to! I enjoyed this process a lot though

What’s been the most challenging aspect of living in Buenos Aires?

that is a tough question… I would say the bureaucracy here can be very tedious and if you do not know how things work here they also become very frustrating.

And what has been the most rewarding aspect of living in Buenos Aires?

The weather, the openness of the people,.. it is such a lovely city to live in.

What’s your favorite local restaurant, bar, or cafe, and why?

I don’t have one favorite, there are so many good places! But Ya Cabron is great for tacos, and I’m craving some right now!

What hidden gem in Buenos Aires deserves more recognition?

Everything outside the fancy and popular neighborhoods.

There are so many great spots to find here!

What advice would you give to new expats in Buenos Aires?

Enjoy yourself!

There is so much to do – if you get an invite for something: GO!

That’s it for this expat interview!
